Week 6 Extras

3D Hand Op Art

Let's have a go at creating this optical illusion of a 3D hand. It's really simple and very effective! You can follow the black and white option by reading the instructions, or look at the YouTube tutorial for a colour version.

Send me your hands and I'll start a gallery :-)

Monday 11th May

Hi everyone,

Apologies for my lateness posting today - I have been having a few technical issues - which is not great when you're supposed to be working from home!

I hope you are all well and had lovely weekends in the sunshine.

We have had some super new contributions  to the 'Your Work' section of the website. Please go and have a look. Olly and Jacob have both written really exciting stories based on The Invasion writing challenge. Amelia L has been getting crafty and making Elmer elephants and Jacob and his brother have been really busy in their potting shed (see Growing Green with Year 3).

I hope you are all getting on well with your maths and english skills practice. I am going to leave on here the Classroom Secrets pack for this week in case you like to work from a booklet. Alternatively, you can watch tutorials and play interactive games online: https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/home-learning-centre/

Please keep me posted with all that you are up to. Loads on great work and activities that you are doing at home building up in the 'Your Work' section. It doesn't have to be any set activities - anything you are doing at home that you'd like to share, send to me and I will post it up!

Miss T :-)

Hello Year 3

I hope you are all well and happy. Just to let you know, that there's a new chapter of George's Marvellous Medicine recorded and up, if you have been following that.

Liam and I have had a go at the 3D opt art hand challenge. I really enjoyed doing it, although it did get a bit tricky when I was doing where the fingers join onto the hand. We both went for a black and white version. Would be great to see some colourful ones up there too. Have a go!

I'll be back soon with another challenge. Please give yourselves and your parents a pat on the back for keeping going with your home learning for all this time.

Bye for now

Miss T :-)
Friday 15th May

Morning All!

I have a new challenge for you to just begin thinking about over the weekend. As I was browsing online, I came across a great project from the British Library that is going to combine our researching, writing and design and technology skills. It's called MINIATURE BOOKS and you can find out all about it here: https://www.bl.uk/childrens-books/activities/make-a-miniature-book

You won't need much to make the book; just pencils, paper, an elastic band, and of course your wonderful imaginations. It can be fact or fiction (I have an idea for a non-fiction book myself) but what it does have to be is MINI!

Below is a video of Jaqueline Wilson's miniature book. You can see more authors showing you their mini books here: https://www.bl.uk/childrens-books/activities/miniature-books-by-your-favourite-authors

There is no rush with this challenge, take your time to think about it and plan it out. You might want to try making a book first to see what kind of size it's going to be. All the instruction are on the above link.

I'm really looking forward to getting to work on mine, it will need some researching so that I get things correct.

If you have any questions, as always, get in touch.

Miss T :-)
