School Lunches

Breaktime

The children are encouraged to eat fruit at break time and are given 5 minutes before morning break to enjoy their fruit. Children in KS1 receive a fruit snack as part of the government’s free fruit scheme.

All children have access to drinking water in the classrooms.

Hot Meals

Local Food Links make delicious school meals, delivered fresh from their Dorset kitchens every day. These are organic and freshly made, mainly using local ingredients. They're better value and more filling than lunchboxes, and more convenient for busy parents too. A healthy, tasty lunch means better concentration in the afternoon... and best of all, children LOVE them! Even fussy eaters. These need to be pre-ordered through Local Food Links website. https://my.localfoodlinks.org.uk/

You may be able to get free school meals. Find out more at www.localfoodlinks.org.uk

Food Rebels

Local Food Links where recently involved in the TV Programme called Food Rebels, this looked at everything they do and the many projects they are involved with. Including providing hot lunches to school. As part of this, the camera crew came into our school to film our lunchtime as the last part of the process having documented the souring of ingredients and preparation of the lunches. The episode can be viewed on the following link, Episode 4.

Packed Lunches

You may choose to provide a packed lunch for your child. Please ensure your child’s lunchbox is clearly named – the box may include a soft drink in a plastic flask or carton. For obvious reasons, no bottles are allowed and no fizzy drinks. Chocolate/crisps are discouraged. We aim to promote a healthy lifestyle in school.

Water is available in all the classrooms.

Statutory Provision of meals

Children of parents who are in receipt of Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance (income based) are entitled to receive a free school meal. Application forms and further details are available from the school office.
