PTFA

St Catherine's PTFA is a relaxed, friendly parent-led group which focuses on raising much needed funds for the school and children as well as providing opportunities for families, parents, carers and children to socialise and build connections with the school and its community.

Fundraising ventures have included Christmas Fairs, Summer BBQs, talent shows, discos for the whole school, textile recycling and regular cake & lolly sales. The money parents, family and friends have raised has enabled the PTFA to provide the school with a set of iPads, new dictionaries and thesaurus, maths textbooks and hands-on resources in support of the new curriculum, a new shed for PE equipment, picnic benches for the playground, Christmas parties and presents, Easter Eggs and even hands on chick hatching!

One of our biggest recent projects was creating the school’s first sensory and wildlife garden, Willow Corner, an area of the playing field we’ve completely regenerated that offers a great new outdoor space in which children can learn, play and socialise. We have developed close links with local businesses and organisations that have been very generous in their support of our projects including Palmers, Amsafe, Waitrose, Dorset Gardens Trust and the Dorset Wildlife Trust. We helped celebrate St Catherine’s 50th anniversary with a summer Garden Party serving cream teas and a fund-raising Summer Raffle with some great prizes donated by local businesses. We fund the Year 6 leavers’ gift too.

There’s lots going on that makes a real difference to the children and families at St Catherine’s and we always welcome any support, ideas, skills, and connections anyone may have. New parents are particularly welcome bringing a fresh approach, suggestions, links to businesses and organisations as well as ensuring we keep up the momentum. It would be great to have some new Reception parents join us – you can be as involved as you want to be.

Sign up to receive update emails and help out on events when and where you can. Or do come and join the meetings (very friendly, informal and chatty usually once or twice a term). It’s a great way to meet other parents, build connections with the school and make a real difference to the children at St Catherine’s.

Catch up with us at drop off / pick up, get in touch via email Scptfa@gmail.com or check out and like our Facebook page.

A very warm welcome to St Catherine’s from all of us at the PTFA.
