Welcome to Reception Class
We are very lucky in that we have two teachers who are a job share. At the beginning of the week we have Mrs Blake and at the end of the week, Mrs Middleton. Our teaching assistant is Mrs Thomas and she is in the class every day.
We aim to do lots of fun things in our class and we learn through topics. We have a different topic each half term.
Our topics this year are:

Autumn Term 1 - People Who Help Us
Autumn Term 2 – Winter
Spring 1 – Dinosaurs
Spring 2 – Minibeasts
Summer 1 – Where Does Our Food Come From?
Summer 2 – Holidays, Journeys and Transport

If you have any expertise/interest in any of these areas, please let us know!
We send home a leaflet every two weeks, detailing the new sounds and tricky words that the class will be learning. We also let parents know the maths work the class will be covering over the two-week period. Each child benefits from as much support as a parent can give, so we encourage parents to help their children with their learning as much as possible. This can even be as simple as recognising and naming letters and numbers on car number plates!
Home Learning
Dear Reception Class,
Just a reminder that all of the information for our class can be found on Tapestry. This week we have uploaded the Home Learning Timetable for week 2, a time-lapse video of pavement chalk art, and me (Mrs Middleton) reading you Hairy Maclary. There is more to see all of the time, and we are so delighted that you are sending us photos and videos back of what you have been doing. It is great to see you all and hear how you are getting on.
Mrs Blake and I have written you a letter to say what we have also been doing this week, and to let you know we are thinking of you. I will upload the letter here but it is also on your Tapestry login.
If you have any concerns or need support with anything, please email either of us and we will get back to you.
Stay safe,
Mrs Middleton and Mrs Blake

Reception had an amazing time with the Harbour Master and the Coastguards. They loved getting into the boat, they experienced how to save somebody in trouble at sea, how to call the coastguards and how to keep safe on the beach.
