Reading and Spelling

 
We use a program called Accelerated Reader.  It helps us manage and monitor your child's independent reading practice. Your child picks a book at his/her own level and read it at his/her own pace. When finished, your child takes a short comprehension quiz on the computer and records their score in their reading record.
 
All books for KS2 in our library have been categorised so your child will have a range that is specific for them.  Your child's range is recorded this is their reading record for you to see.
 
 
If you would like to check a book's banding at home go to www.arbookfind.co.uk.  You can enter the title and see if it is within your child's banding range.
We would like you to read with your child 3 times per week. Please record this in their reading record and your child will earn extra class dojo points.
