Mary's Meals

Mary’s Meals a charity set up in 1983 by Angus MacFarlane-Barrow in a shed in Scotland, aims to provide a daily meal, in a place of education, for children in the world’s poorest communities. It currently feeds well over a million children each day across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and South America reaching out to people of all faiths and of none. It now costs just £15.90 to feed a child for a whole school year.

St Catherine’s is determined to keep raising money for this worthy charity every year. For further information please look online at https://www.marysmeals.org.uk/

Previously, following a talk by the local Mary’s Meals representative, Ann White, each class decided on a different way of raising funds including a sponsored walk, cake sale, shoe shine and guessing the name of the teddy bear. Everyone was delighted with the huge final total of £490.55 which included £50 from the Catholic Women’s League who also teamed up with each class to help them in their fundraising. Ann White returned to St Catherine’s to accept the cheque on behalf of Mary’s Meals and told the children that this amount would give a meal each to around 5,000 children!
CAFOD

Children at St. Catherine's supported CAFOD's Walk for Water Campaign this Lent, by completing sponsored walks at home and collecting donations for their mile a day efforts in school. They raised in excess of £100.
